Four crosses, four goals vs West Ham

Watching City at the moment is just a pure pleasure as we certainly do make football look so easy at the moment and yesterday was no different as we scored four against West Ham once again at the London Stadium. That means since the start of 2017 we have played West Ham four times at their new place and we have scored seventeen goals in total, conceding just one. Best of it was yesterday, Aquero didn’t score.

In fact Aguero didn’t even get an assist either, not that he didn’t play well in the eighty minutes he was on the pitch. It’s just that our other outstanding players excelled yesterday with Sane being the main one as he continues to find some excellent form now he’s playing games once again. The likes of Silva, Sterling and Fernandinho were of course there usual consistent selves as we dominated the game from the first minute and for most of the first-half.

The intensity and desire of all the players we have now got under Pep is wonderful to watch and it’s always a full-on team effort from front to back when we play. That is certainly how we approached the opening forty-five minutes yesterday, with our attackers helping out and defending as a team. Before winning the ball back and then our defenders helping out in attack as we broke forward with such pace.

The fact we get the ball down the channels to our wide players so quickly is one thing, the next is how we pick a player out in the middle once we’re in that wide position. A lot of teams would get it into the wide position and then just whip or launch a ball into the box in hope their striker gets their head on the end of it. Not us, just look at all four goals we scored yesterday. All four crosses were played into feet to positions where we know we’d have someone waiting to score. This is nothing new though is it, we’ve been doing it a while now but still our opponents cannot cope with it. Long may it continue I’d say.
